Professor Amina Salihi Bayero

Prof. Amina Salihi Bayero is a distinguished professor of Analytical Chemistry. Her educational journey began at Kofar Na’isa and Gidan Galadima Girls Primary Schools, followed by Government Girls Secondary School Kwa. Subsequently, she pursued higher education at the then Kano State College of Arts and Science before attaining her BSc, MSc, and PhD. degrees from Bayero University Kano. Alongside her academic pursuits, she earned a Post-Graduate diploma in Education from Federal College of Education, Kano.
Prof. Bayero has been a trailblazer in the field of chemistry, marking several firsts in her career. She stands as the first female PhD graduand of Chemistry from Bayero University Kano, the inaugural and sole female professor of Chemistry from Kano state. Presently, she holds the esteemed position of Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) at Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano, following her previous role as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration). Within the university, she has also served as the head of the Department of Chemistry and as Dean of the Faculty of Science, where she spearheaded transformative initiatives resulting in the production of exceptional graduates.
Her dedication extends beyond academia; Prof. Bayero has actively contributed to the Chemical Society of Nigeria, Kano Chapter, providing both financial and moral support. Additionally, she has co-founded Pyro-Oil Nigeria Limited, a company focused on environmental waste management through pyrolysis, thereby fostering environmental sustainability and community empowerment.
Prof. Bayero’s scholarly contributions are evidenced by her numerous publications in internationally recognized academic journals and her participation in conferences both nationally and internationally. Moreover, she has devoted her time to mentoring young chemists, serving as a beacon of inspiration and guidance.
